Your Boise dentist is telling you to stop brushing your teeth? That’s crazy, right?!
Well, you ARE right. It’s crazy. But I mean it. Just not in the way you think. Brushing manually with a regular toothbrush just doesn’t do the job very well. So what I am recommending, is to switch to an electric toothbrush.
Electrify Your Teeth
Don’t electrify your teeth for real, please! That was just a catchy subtitle. I’m on a roll today!
Ok, back to toothbrushes…
Electric Toothbrushes, like the Sonicare, are excellent. They are so effective. It is a lot of money for a toothbrush, I get that. But they do a better job than you can do with a manual. Period. I don’t think there is anyone who wouldn’t benefit from using one.
They have a timer on them to help you time your 2 minutes. And some models also divide the two minutes into 30 second increments. If you have that, I would recommend quadrant brushing. Focus on one quadrant for each 30 second period.
Sometimes when you do your whole mouth there are areas that you miss. Or when you do a whole arc at once, you’ll consistently skip over certain areas without realizing it.
And as you can imagine, the electric toothbrush is great for kids and does a stunning job where a manual brush would only do a mediocre job.
I actually got in trouble at my last cleaning. I didn’t have a cavity but I did have extra plaque in one area that I guess I missed a few times in the course of my usual brushing. Here at the Modern Dental office, we do each other’s cleanings and make sure we are all still doing the best job we can. Obviously, I got called out on that one.
So yes, even your Boise dentist isn’t always perfect with his oral care. So I hope you’ll take my recommendation for this product not just as a dentist but as a regular person with plaque. This is my personal experience: electric toothbrushes really do the best job.
