The benefits of braces and straight teeth can be much more than esthetic. Straight teeth are easier to keep clean and stain free, however research indicates that proper jaw alignment can also improve air flow and blood oxygenation, which in turn can improve rest while sleeping. Some research indicates that this improved blood oxygenation may promote proper production of hormones that effect growth and even night time bladder control in children.

Invisalign Teeth-Straightening

Invisalign bracesIf the idea of wearing braces is holding you back from the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted, there is good news for you. lnvisalign is a state-of-the-art alternative to braces that’s practically undetectable to other people.

Invisalign is comfortable to wear, straightening your teeth with a series of clear, customized appliances called aligners, rather than with brackets and wires. Invisalign is non-irritating to your mouth and easily removable. Because there are no metal or wires with Invisalign, you spend far less time in Modern Dental’s Boise office getting adjustments.

Your first step is your complimentary consultation with Dr. Royce.

The doctor helps to determine what you want to correct. Using 3-D computer technology, Dr. Royce generates a complete treatment plan for you, depicting the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. He will show you your own virtual treatment plan before you start, so you will see how your straight teeth will look when your Invisalign treatment is finished.

Woman with white smileThen he’ll sends precise treatment instructions to the Invisalign Company, where his instructions are translated into a sequence of finely calibrated aligners. There can be as few as 12 or as many as 48 aligners.

Once Dr. Royce receives your aligners, you wear your first one for about two weeks, taking the easily removed aligner out for eating, brushing and flossing. Over time, as you replace each aligner approximately every two weeks with the next, your teeth will move gradually until they move into the final alignment prescribed.

You will have occasional checkups, often as little as once every six weeks, in order to gauge your progress and ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. As you progress through the series of aligners, your teeth will begin moving, little by little. You won’t have to wait until you complete treatment to see your smile change. You may start seeing positive changes early in the process.

During your Invisalign treatment, you can usually eat whatever you desire because you remove your aligners to eat and drink. This is yet another advantage over traditional orthodontic (teeth-straightening) methods, where there can be many food restrictions.

With so many benefits to the Invisalign system, why wait any longer to get your beautiful smile!
